DIY Engagement Card

Our friends got engaged at Christmas and I realised that I hadn't sent them an engagement card. So today I got my act together and got onto Moonpig UK as I wanted it to get there quick and Aussie post can be so slow! I still wanted it to be personalised though and I just couldn't find an image that I thought was really them. So I decided to make one myself!

Carole is very creative and loves vintage trinkets, sewing and crafts and I know the wedding will definitely have her stamp on it so I wanted to reflect that in my card too. She helped us with our wedding too and she's got such a good eye for detail.

This canvas from my sewing room was my inspiration...

So I raided my bits and bobs and came away with these items...

I wanted to give it a vintage/crafty feel and she likes pale colours so I tried to stick with those. I thought the blue was appropriate too for a wedding! And my wedding and engagement ring bring in the engagement side of things.

First I made a heart shape with the cream ribbon and them I added the other items. I did move them around a bit but I didn't want it to look too forced so tried to keep it random.

Then I took a picture!

I am loving the A Beautiful Mess app at the moment so once I was happy with my picture I uploaded it to the app to make some changes and add the message. It's amazing what a filter does to a photograph! Here is the finished picture which I then uploaded to Moonpig to send as a card.

I was quite pleased with the finished product and hope that they both like it! Looking forward to making some more cards like this. It's a new take on a handmade card for me :)
